Oliver Wells

Oliver Wells studied economics at Cambridge and then did two years research at the Building Economics Research Unit at University College London.

For the first 25 years of his career, Oliver Wells has been involved in the development and marketing of medical equipment. This started when he joined Medelec Ltd in 1977: this company, making electrodiagnostic equipment, became part of the Vickers Medical Division, where Oliver held a number of marketing and general management positions, in most of which he was very involved in the development and introduction of new products and technologies. Ultimately, he was the Divisional Marketing Director for the Medical Division of Vickers plc until its disposal at the end of 1997.

Since then, Oliver has worked on a consultancy basis for a number of companies and organisations in the field of medical products and services. He currently holds positions at Imperial College London where he is Director of the new EPSRC funded Health & Care Infrastructure Research & Innovation Centre (HaCIRIC); and manages a number of other research activities. Oliver is also Chairman of NHS Innovations South East, one of the NHS Innovation hubs, which is responsible for facilitating the exploitation of innovations from NHS organisations in the South East region.
