What We Do
The South-East Health Technology Alliance (SEHTA) is a company limited by guarantee which was set up by industry representatives and supported by SEEDA. SEHTA is owned by its members, but the majority of SEHTA's funding is provided by SEEDA catalyst funding, through a three-year rolling grant. SEEDA is providing further funding as the conduit for the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Biotech Financial Advisory Service (SE BFAS) grant and other grants. SEHTA also receives funding from EU programmes for specific projects which can benefit its members. In time, it is expected that SEHTA will attract funding from other sources. As a not-for-profit company, SEHTA exists for the benefit of its members and is governed by business leaders in the sectors it operates within. It provides regional leadership to an important industry and provides direct support to its members through a variety of projects. Further, SEHTA acts as a focal point for other support available nationally and regionally through third parties. The portfolio of support and services available to members includes:
- Access to finance and advice on raising capital
- Advice on management, business development and PR
- Peer-to-peer and supply chain networking
- Introduction to potential partner organisations and co-ordination of major collaborative projects between members and/or outside organisations, in both the UK and abroad
- Publicity campaigns to raise the profile of the sector
- Providing a directory of members and service organisations and the opportunity for members to profile themselves to potential investors and their peers
