Ms Rie Uematsu is keen to meet the following UK companies:a) those who are already selling to Japan

Following the success of the 2007 International Conference on Rapid Manufacturing, which was attended by over 150 delegates from 18 countries, the 2008 RM conference is set to take place on the 9th & 10th of July 2008. The conference will be hosted by the Rapid Manufacturing Research Group at Loughborough University in the UK ⁽¹⁾.

Conference Scope

The 2-day conference will feature a state-of-the-art mixture of world-leading industrial applications and cutting-edge academic research currently being undertaken in the field of Rapid Manufacturing ⁽²⁾.

Rapid Manufacturing is one of the most exciting emergent technologies available to global industry today. RM uses 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) data to directly 'print' or 'grow' parts in a variety of polymeric, metallic, ceramic and organic materials. RM allows companies to cost effectively manufacture ever more complex and optimized components at very low unit volumes. It is suggested that RM could enable a step-change for manufacturers that will ultimately result in manufacturing being maintained in high wage economies.

The international RM conference is one of the world’s only conferences dedicated to the use of additive manufacturing technologies for end-use ‘production’ part applications.

Speakers

Industrial papers will be presented by companies including Delcam Plc, DeskTop Factory, Solidica, Future Factories, Assa Designs, Econolyst, V.G. Kunststofftechnik GmbH, Materials Solutions and TNO Holland. Academic papers will also be presented by Birmingham University (UK), Cornell University (USA), Liverpool University (UK) , Loughborough University (UK) and RWTH Aachen University (Germany). An additional six speakers will be announced shortly.

The conference is aimed at both industrialists and academics. The conference will be equally of interest to those already involved in Rapid Manufacturing, but also those looking to engage with this exciting new technology.
