 Showcasing Advanced Wound Care in Latin America 

A leading developer and manufacturer of cutting-edge wound care and wound closure products - Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) - is to exhibit at Hospitalar 2008, Latin America’s largest medical trade fair. 

UK based AMS will introduce to the Latin American market its innovative wound care range which adopts the concept of moist wound healing to allow wounds to heal faster without pain and minimal scaring; whilst also promoting its wound closure brand LiquiBand®. 

With a strong research and development capability ensuring AMS remain at the forefront of technology; their wound care range consists of film, foam, hydrocolloid, hydrogel and alginate materials. AMS also provide silver technologies within their alginate range - with these dressings acting as antimicrobials to help prevent wound infections.  

Alginate is a naturally occurring biopolymer derived from seaweed and when combined with silver is effective against a wide range of micro-organisms including MRSA and VRE. The AMS wound care dressing products are designed to create an ideal moist wound healing environment to help speed up the healing process compared to using traditional methods. 

The AMS wound closure and sealants products are at the leading edge of the skin sealants technology. The products are based on medical adhesive technology which allows the closure of wounds following trauma or surgical incisions. Tissue adhesives offer significant benefits over conventional ways of closing wounds as they are simple to use, non-invasive, help to reduce the risk of infection and minimise trauma to the patient. 

AMS’ products are sold into hospitals, nursing homes and community care markets worldwide through branded partners and private label distributors.
