How licensing Intellectual Property can help your business
End : 9 Jul 2009 - 16:30
Licensing intellectual property can bring significant benefits to al kinds of businesses. Understanding the key principles and being aware of issues when licensing overseas can help companies prepare for more effective discussions with other businesses. The UK Intellectual Property office’s new guide on Business to Business licensing takes you through the issues to consider before entering into any intellectual property license.
To help businesses make the most of this guidance, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Northwood Reid Solicitors are running a one-day workshop.
Just some of the topics the workshop will cover include:
- How to identify what rights are being licensed;
- How you might structure payment terms;
- Issues you need to be aware of when dealing with foreign IP rights and parties in different jurisdictions;
- What should happen after termination of the license;
- The role of the licensor and the licensee if a third person infringes intellectual property rights;
- How you go about resolving disputes.
After the workshop there will be the opportunity for a pre-booked one-to-one session where participants can discuss their queries privately with Northwood Reid Solicitors.
Cost: - This course is open to all. The event fee is £100 per delegate for non Passport to Export companies and £50 per delegate for Passport to Export companies.*
