Smart Meter - Smart Systems
End : 9 Jun 2010 - 16:30
This event covers the competition for £4.5M funding for Collaborative R&D projects covering the integration of smart meters to generate smart systems.
The Technology Strategy Board, in partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, is to invest up to £4.5m in innovative collaborative research, development and demonstration projects. Funded projects will be selected based on a simple entry form. The competition is open to energy, communications, technology and other companies.
Consortia must be business led and can be science-to-business or business-to-business interactions. The competition aims to accelerate the speed at which innovations are able to enter the market.
Projects should integrate ‘smart’ meters with communications to make a ‘smart’ system that will have an impact on the demand for, and use of, energy in the home. Projects will generally be in the range £400k-£2m and should start in July or August 2010. All projects must be completed by end of March 2011. Of particular interest are projects which help to understand the way in which consumer demand for energy might change in the light of the integration of smart home technologies and from those already involved in smart home development.
This event will prepare companies to compete effectively in the competition and will assist companies to find partners and build consortia.
It will start with a number of presentations that cover the background to the call, the ideal project and details of how to enter the competition.
Venue: Baker Tilley, Russell House, Russell Square, London WC1B 5EE
