Olswang is hosting an IP seminar for Life Sciences companies - "Show Me the Value!!" - concentrating on patent due diligence and best practice, on the morning of Thursday 19 April.

The seminar will benefit Business Development and IP managers, licensing and tech transfer offices, VCs, corporate financiers, and in-house lawyers who are likely to be involved on either side of a financing, investment, licensing, collaboration or acquisition which involves assessing the value of patents in pharma, biotech and med tech and devices businesses .

The seminar is designed to give practical tips to take away and implement, looking at the issues around assessing and maximising value in IP.   From industry, Andrew Farquharson from AstraZeneca will consider what patent position big pharma look for when evaluating an in-licensing or acquisition opportunity.  From the patent drafting and prosecution side Dr Robert Stephen, European patent attorney at Olswang, will then suggest 10 actions that will affect the inherent value of IP going forward.  Stephen Reese from Olswang, will identify the key aspects of licensing contracts to obtain maximum advantage from any deal.  Dr Steve Smith, a consultant patent attorney with extensive pharma industry experience and ex-Global Head of Patents at AstraZeneca, will then lead a panel based, general Q&A session following up on individual presentations.  The seminar will end with an opportunity for extended informal discussion over a buffet lunch.

Registration for this seminar will commence at 9.30am with presentations starting at 10.00am to allow for travel time.  The seminar will last for about 2 hours, including three presentations of 30 minutes each and Q&A session.  There will be no charge to attend this seminar.
